About

You may (or may not) know me, Beansai, from in the beansai or Lit Bit, my two other blogs. One a personal blog, and the other a literature blog, respectively. While I have a BA in English, and recently studied for an MA in Creative Writing: Poetry, photography has always been a passion of mine. When I was around 12/13 I got into photography at school. I learned how to use our 35mm film Pentax, and how to develop the film and photos in a class. I even did photography for my eighth grade yearbook.

While I always wanted to take more photography classes after that, I never got a chance to fit it into my schedule. Once I got to university I felt that I couldn’t take the classes because they were for people who were actually majoring in photography. What a silly presumption. Well, here I am, going down the self-taught road now instead. Seems like everyone is a photographer these days, doesn’t it? Funny, I feel like that about writing too – everyone’s a writer! The impostors! Except that I feel like an impostor in the photog blogosphere. Oh wells.

The real goal of this blog is to personally mark my progress as an amateur photographer. I am going to try and post a photo that I have taken each day. While most of the photos will be shot with my Pentax K20D, some might come from my iPhone camera, or even from my old point and shoot. I’ll probably share some past photos too – maybe one or two that I don’t think are horrendous. Right now I’m mostly comfortable with still subjects – the spasmodic movements of my mom’s dog, for example, are still a bit difficult for me to capture. Sometimes I manage. I’m hoping to try and do some more “photo shoot” type of setups, aside from my random-subject-matter-photo-taking. Welp, let’s see how this goes.
